Bryoria  bicolor (Ehrh.) Brodo et D.Hawksw.
Status of species A rare species. Registered in Red Data Book of Sweden and in the Lists of endangered lichens species in Austria, Poland, Finland and Germany.
Distribution Very rare in valleys of rivers Gauja and Brasla.
Habitat Develops on mossy sandstone cliffs.
Occurance Sporadically singly specimens.
Reproduction By soredia as well as by pieces of thalli.
Changes in number and distribution Found for the first time in Latvia in valley of river Gauja (H.Skuja, 1923). It is negatively affected by the antropogenic factor.
Existing protection Decision Nr 107, 1987 by the Council of Ministers of the Latvian SSR. Lichen localities are known in Gauja National Park. Red Data Book of Latvia, 1985.
Suggestions for study Lichen biology and dynamics of population development should be studied. Its distribution should be defined.
