A very rare species. Registered in the Red Data Book of Sweden and
in the Lists of endangered lichens species in Austria, Poland, Finland
and Germany. |
Distribution |
Rare in the eastern part of Latvia. |
Habitat |
An epiphytic lichen growing on deciduous trees in mixed and deciduous
forests. |
Occurance |
Singly specimens occur on deciduous trees. |
Reproduction |
By spores. |
Changes in number and distribution |
The first indication of the existance of this species in Latvia was
in 1870 (A. Bruttan), no locality indicated. Later found in Numerne forest
near Donikova in 1957 (A. Piterāns). Its development is greatly affected
by human's economic activity (wood cutting) and by increased pollution. |
