Parmelia  omphalodes (L.) Ach.
Status of species A rare species. Included in the List ef endangered lichens species in Denmark.
Distribution North - west and north parts of Latvia.
Habitat Develops on boulders in open sites.
Occurance Singly specimens occur
Reproduction By spores, in Latvia by soredia.
Changes in number and distribution Found for the first time in Latvia in Mazsalaca (A. Bruttan, 1870), in Slītere reserve in 1972 and in the valley of Brasla (A. Piterāns, 1983). It is negatively affected by environmental pollution and changes in biotope.
Existing protection Decision Nr 107, 1987 by the Council of Ministers of the Latvian SSR. Localities are known in Slītere reserve and Gauja National Park. RDB of Latvia, 1985.
Suggestions for study Lichen biology and dynamics of population development should be studied. Its distribution should be defined.
