Status of species A rare species. Registered in the Lists of endangered lichens species in Denmark, Germany, Austria and Poland.
Distribution Central and north - west part of Latvia.
Habitat Occurs on the bark of deciduous trees.
Occurance Singly specimens occur.
Reproduction By soredia.
Changes in number and distribution Found for the first time in the Gauja valley near Gutmans cave on linden trees in 1967 and in the vicinity of Dundaga (A. Piterāns, 1972). It is negatively affected by pollution.
Existing protection A locality is known in Gauja National Park territory. Red Data Book of Latvia, 1992.
Suggestions for study Lichen biology and dynamics of population development should be studied. Its distribution should be defined.
