A rare species. Registered in the Red Data Books of Estonia and Sweden
and in the Lists of endangered lichen species in Finland, Denmark, Germany,
Austria and Poland. |
Distribution |
Rare in the central and western parts of Latvia. |
Habitat |
An epiphytic and humidity - demanding lichen growing on trunks of deciduous
trees. |
Occurance |
Singly specimens occur on tree trunks. |
Reproduction |
By spores. |
Changes in number and distribution |
Found for the first time in Latvia in 1870 (A. Bruttan), but no locality
indicated. Found in Rucava in 1964, in Slļtere in 1971, in Óemeri in 1978
(A. Piterąns). It is negatively affected by environmental pollution. |
Existing protection |
Localities are known in Slļtere reserve and in Kemeri National Park.
