Usnea  florida (L.) Weber ex F. H. Wigg.
Status of species A rare species. Registered in the Red Data Book of Sweden, in the Lists of endangered lichens species in Austria, Poland and Germany.
Distribution The western and central parts of Latvia.
Habitat In mixed forests on deciduous trees.
Occurance Singly specimens occur on deciduous tree trunks and branches.
Reproduction By spores.
Changes in number and distribution Found for the first time in Latvia in Jaungulbene 
(A. Bruttan, 1870), in Moricsala (K. Kupfer, 1931). It is negatively affected by environmental pollution and human economic activity (wood cutting).
Existing protection Decision Nr 107, 1987 by the Council of Ministers of the Latvian SSR. Localities are known in Moricsala reserve and in the territory of Gauja National Park. Red Data Book of Latvia, 1985.
Suggestions for study Lichen biology and dynamics of population development should be studied. The state of biotopes and population should be checked.
